Modern Slavery & Human Trafficking Policy
Our commitment to dignity, fairness and respect.
Roots to Connection is an independent wellbeing and lifestyle shop based in Suffolk. Care and connection are at the heart of our business, and we believe those values should extend to the people behind the products we sell.
Our position on modern slavery
We oppose slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory labour and human trafficking in all forms. We expect people involved in our business and supply relationships to be treated with dignity and to work freely, safely and lawfully.
Our business and suppliers
Our collections include products supplied by third-party businesses, and some orders are dispatched directly by suppliers. We recognise that a product can pass through several businesses before reaching a customer, and that risks of exploitation can exist at different stages.
We expect our suppliers and business partners to:
- Comply with applicable employment, human rights and anti-slavery laws.
- Use freely chosen labour, without forced labour, trafficking or unlawful child labour.
- Respect workers’ rights, including lawful pay, working hours and safe working conditions.
- Avoid coercion, intimidation and the improper withholding of identity documents.
- Take concerns about exploitation seriously and cooperate in addressing them.
Taking a proportionate approach
Our aim is to develop checks that are proportionate to the size and nature of our business. This includes seeking relevant information when choosing or reviewing suppliers and considering concerns brought to our attention. We do not claim that every supplier or every stage of our supply chain has been independently audited.
If a concern arises, our policy is to review the information available, seek clarification and appropriate advice, and consider what action is needed. This may include requesting corrective action or pausing or ending a business relationship, while considering the safety and wellbeing of affected workers.
Raising a concern with us
If you have a concern connected with Roots to Connection or a product we sell, please email sales@rootstoconnection.com with the subject “Modern Slavery Concern”, or use our Contact Us page.
We will take concerns seriously and handle information sensitively. Please share only the information needed to explain your concern; we cannot promise absolute confidentiality where information needs to be shared for safeguarding or legal reasons.
Independent help and reporting
If someone is in immediate danger in the UK, call 999. For independent advice or to report suspected exploitation, contact the Modern Slavery & Exploitation Helpline on 08000 121700. You do not need to contact us before seeking help.
Further information is available in the GOV.UK modern slavery guidance.
Keeping this policy current
We aim to review this policy annually and as our business and supplier relationships develop. This page sets out our policy commitments and expectations, rather than a report of completed audits or training.
